    Bellwether Social Media trial

Lulz. Clown statement, bro. Yeah, it matters. Pretending otherwise is like claiming to understand military service after reading a bunch of warfare books and watching the history channel. While it's not impossible to have a deep understanding of what it takes to raise kids without having any...

Anyone have a salmon chowder recipe they like?

UPDATE: I gave the Serious Eats Kenji recipe a shot this evening. Overall, it was pretty good. I used about half the bacon to keep the grease/sodium down and used chicken stock instead of clam juice (family preferences, but also keeps sodium down). Other than that, stuck to the recipe. I let it...

Anyone have a salmon chowder recipe they like?

I meant that I didn't know if the recipe was the same between Serious Eats and Kenji's own YT channel. Same Kenji, for sure. That said, I just noticed that the Serious Eats version has "Updated 12/21/25" on it. So it seems likely to be the same recipe both places.

Anyone have a salmon chowder recipe they like?

That's actually the same recipe as the Serious Eats one I linked above. Well, to be fair, I have no idea if they are the SAME. Kenji (guy on the video) also wrote the Serious Eats article. Maybe the more recent video version is updated or different? Probably worth a watch to check.

Anyone have a salmon chowder recipe they like?

I've got some salmon in the freezer that needs to get used up. So I was thinking of seeing how it would work in some salmon chowder. Never made a single bowl of that before, though. Anyone have a recipe they particularly like? Absent any other suggestions, I was going to riff off of the...

    Pucker up

Hmmmm, historical evidence across this and the previous forum doesn't ENTIRELY support your findings. Here's some video footage of a "Are beads considered flies?" thread.

    Bellwether Social Media trial

Stepping away from the hot-button feelings about social networks themselves... It is important to remember that, imperfect though it may be, Section 230 is also what allows sites like pnwflyfishing.com to operate. If we were held liable for every stupid thing that someone posted or uploaded to...

    Pucker up

NOTE FROM THE ADMINS I agree that folks are being pretty chill in this thread. And kudos to everyone for doing so. But it IS real close, if not over, the "no politics" line around here. "Grrrr GOVT!" threads like this are a real slippery slope that almost always lead away from where we want to...

    WDFW Digital license

I had totally forgotten about this thread and the "choose paper or digital" situation this year when I stopped by a local Ye Old Fishing Shoppe to get a license yesterday. I didn't have much time and the crabby lady at the WDFW computer was cursing about the digital version being awful. So I...

Big mudslide blocking northbound I-5 south of Bellingham

Heads up to anyone traveling up I-5 this weekend. A big mudslide just north of Lake Samish in Whatcom county has blocked all lanes of northbound traffic on I-5. Thus far, nobody is giving estimates on when it might be reopened. A lot of earth is sitting on top of the highway right now. There is...

Time to escape the doom and gloom

    BC Going to Permanent DST

There are lots of places in the world where it's dark in the winter mornings regardless of DST or not. Kids somehow make it to school in Alaska, right? Norway? N. Ireland? I guess we'll see how it goes for our schoolkid neighbors to the north. But as you say, all gonna depend on your individual...

    BC Going to Permanent DST

This won't cause any confusion at all. What could go wrong? Jokes aside, I'm jealous. I feel like even if we DID stop switching the clocks, WA will somehow end up getting bullied into permanent Standard Time by the other states somehow. Which would suck.

    LiFePO4 Batteries

I guess I just like the 50ah lithium size as a really good middle ground, especially for smaller boats. Enough power to run the motor as much as most folks would ever need, but also still a compact size and light weight.

    LiFePO4 Batteries

Lluz, I didn't realize you'd already got your setup together and ready to go. Awesome! I suppose I'll leave my previous post for future readers of the thread.

    LiFePO4 Batteries

You could, if you wanted to, even get away with a smaller 50-60ah battery for that size motor. But if money or space isn't a blocker, always better to have more amp hours. I've run multiple different 50-55 lb motors with this 12v 50ah 11.5lb LiTime battery: Here's Minn Kota guidelines for...
