Aside from longer casts, what are the benefits of a 2-handed rod?

My -2 cents worth. starting with shorter rods I think is easier (switch etc) and using short Skagit heads helped me. Love Commando heads they helped to get the feel for rod load and in tight no room behind ares. Always remember to slow down, hands out in front & bottom hand pull. Good video is...

    Snohomish to close until november.

Well at least they live shipped 14 fish from the south fork to use in the hatchery. Those fish have better consistent return over the years. As well as the coho & pinks up there.

    Spey fishing coho in river

Jabbering on sorry (waves are too strong to fish right now) agree OPST commando smooth is great and small Dick nites can be casted better on SH rods than two handers with more of a chuck kinda cast. Oh and check out some of B.C websites on fishing coho in rivers. They do it as a normal fishery...

    Snohomish to close until november.

Would love to see the Tulalip tribe get a full on Brood stock/hatchery program going instead of just putting pressure on to close down the rivers. Heck they have more than enough money to do it.

    Snohomish to close until november.

Here’s an idea let’s try a Brood stock program with these kings. It’s working well with Skykomish chums ? And we all know who’s responsible for letting them get wiped out.

What's your favorite mono running line & why?

Did a search, and Hydro float came up for sale at Cabelas & amazon. Used it for years for float and jig fishing. Like you said got to fix those wind knots right away. Also this line picks up debris more than mono. Tried it for running line but i was too fumbled fingers to make it work.

Gear Review Outbound Short vs Coastal Quickshooter

Don’t know about the CQS. I use my OBS for slower moving waters ( lower Snohomish, lower Skagit, etc) it’s good, not great but it is useful if I don’t have a floater or intermediate loaded up on a reel.

Best rod for the salt and why?

On the cheaper end is the Redington Predator and or the Echo Boost blue good for salt water beaches ?

    Puget Sound

Sorta the same conclusion I came to using my short switch rod on the beach. My frustration was with trying to keep the running line out of the salad at my feet even with a stripping basket. Would like to try the Boost Blue though.

    Wader Repair Suggestions

If you want to get more information on waders and wader repair, watch Joel Strickland of Surviving Duck Season on YouTube. Nobody puts more abuse on their waders than Duck hunters. Except shellfish harvesters. Check out his preferred repair adhesive from 3M.

Marine Area 9 - I need your help

I like your hopeful outlook. I just cant see the Department really paying any attention to sport fishers. But what the heck I’ll give it a shot. Especially if it annoys the Department heads at the top.

SA Magnitude Clear Float fly lines

How were they casting into the wind ? The place we go to on vacation always, always has wind . But it’s the waves that bother me most . I rate fly lines for wind . If they won’t power through the wind then I don’t buy em.

Balanced vs Standard Leech Under Indicators

For me the question is about the painted beads ? Should i be using those bright painted beads ? Are they worth the money & time to add them to my already way overstuffed fly boxes ?

    Getting Boned in Kihei

Good to hear of success on Maui. Always a struggle especially if the waves are not good. Most of the beaches on the south end are better than the west side or the north side. North side has some good beaches but Lots of wind and I won’t go up there where the parks are very sketchy looking areas...

Let's talk about big traditional flies on long leaders

So i maybe all messed up memory wise, but do you feel that you get good hook sets using single hooks as opposed to a fly with a trailing hook which seems to be the popular way to fish now ? Seems like back in the old days I didn’t have a problem fishing and hooking fish on single hooks.

Short Belly lines with changeable tips

So let me ask this, are the Nextcast and Bridge the best two brands of lines we can buy ? And Airflo , SA, Rio etc just second class brands ? In other words should I always look at Nextcast and Bridge first before even thinking of buying those other brands ? Also do I really need a FIST type...

    Hatchery Wild CoExist Brood Stock

Have you watched the film ? Are you calling all the folks involved Liars ? Because i watched the film and the success these people testify to is real. Just like the part about the Snider creek program on the Sol Duc. Or maybe you’re just another anti hatchery person. And is this a banking/...

    Hatchery Wild CoExist Brood Stock

Glad to say that Hatchery wild has a new film showing the great benefits from Brood stock programs. Can only hope that Washington state could start doing this on a regular basis. Why not ? It’s working at the Wallace hatchery with chum salmon. And of course Oregon with great success. Duh ! But...
