They must be offspring that have lived in the nest just across the highway. Had this happen on many occasions. I have found that burying the rod ( sometimes even the reel) in the water has helped me avoid the eagles from grabbing it. Great pictures though..!

I use a TFO BVK 6 weight with a fast sink shooting head. When I heard that TFO was discontinuing the BVK, I bought 2 more just to hang onto..........absolutely love it for streamers and sinking lines on the lake.
