EJ at his best...

Absolutely one of my favorites of that era, but that album was mic'd better. Those guys were playing without a lot of effects. Hot into the mic and largely recorded as a "live" band.

And a bunch of other things. Love how Tones bleeds into Ah Via Musicom 4 years later without missing a beat. For me, Tones is EJ at his best, but knew that long before Cliffs of Dover.

Yep. All the levels are great. You can hear the vocals, the bass, the drums, and a flood of compressed, multi-tracked guitar distortion.

In retrospect, I think the Pumpkins were the best recorded band of that era. The double tracked leads with perfect distortion back track always caught my ear. It reminded me of when I first heard the Boston album -- just a muddier version.

Great chorus. Sweet, Sweet....

I've got the stupid 150K lost tariff blues. There should be a song for that.

He didn't connect with me but, I can see the brothers in arm vibe. Mark Koffler is maybe the most unique songwriter/musician/guitarist of the last 40 years.

Side note. I spent years trying to find the original art work for the almost acoustic album and found that a guy in west Seattle had it in his collection. It was even better to see in person. Very inspiring but I declined to buy.

What? How did I not post this before! This is SVR at his most approachable. Beautiful playing here. Playing slightly behind the beat, bending strings up and dropping off into a crazy hendrixesque guttural vibe. It's just amazing playing. He was my idol.

The Standing on the moon chorus is beautiful....Be with you
