    Alternatives Sought

As we're packing for the big move east, it hit me that I have lot of reels of various makes and styles I need to pack. I've already got 2 reel cases full but those darn things are expensive. Anyone know of a useful, viable, inexpensive alternative to pack and store multiple reels at once other...

NFR AI - How It Will Affect Jobs In The Next 5 years

We already have robotic welders and assemblers in the automotive and other manufacturing sectors. The 1st robotic farms are slowly coming online. But all of it still requires a human in the loop and probably always will. Humanity will still need a sense of purpose and belonging. Where do the 2...

That's the one I've seen too. Strangely, as much time I spent in the Fort Irwin and Twentynine Palms areas I never saw the one mentioned in the article I posted

Probably severe burns if it operates like that giant array in the desert. Don't think I'd want to get too close during days with lots of sun and find out the hard way. 🫨

    Parabolic Trough Collectors

Agreed, it is an intriguing idea. If you're on private acreage you'd probably be ok. I've read of a guy in Idaho who has had the old school, hand built, black box solar collectors on his buildings for almost 30 years and he both heats water for a forced water system and supplies his own...

NFR AI - How It Will Affect Jobs In The Next 5 years

I see more and more news articles about schools pulling their students away from mass use of computers, in some instances pulling them out of classrooms entirely. I'm no adherent of John Ludd, though i do prefer trailing edge technology, but this insane rush to push a digital product that...

@Flymph Interesting idea. Not sure a person could get permitting in a lot of places. Reflectivity would probably be an issue with close by neighbors and flight paths. Another version of this is the "solar oven" idea. From experience, those don't seem to work well.

NFR AI - How It Will Affect Jobs In The Next 5 years

Wow, we went way off the original topic, but I think we agree there needs to be a course correction in our education systems. AI might, might, be a useful tool in that, but right now as it is, too over hyped, too easily exploited, I'm not trusting it to even give me a pasta salad recipe.

@M_D , good luck. Sounds like orthoped time. Guys, remember, WebMD is a great resource for drug interactions and dosage / long term use warnings. I've used it several times to combat excessive over prescription of drugs from VA docs. For some reason, they love ibuprofen and gabapentin in high...
