Very small mids in sz 18 - 20, black or olive, seem to be good and down 10 - 20+. No news on mayflies, buds have to work for fish. I’m off on Sat for a week or so 😀 Dave

I've never caught one nor heard of it and I've fished it annually since then. Current fishing is slow for my on site reporter but the fish are of good size and fitness. I'm loving the fact that the temps are relatively on point with the seasonal average for this time of yr. The last couple of...

Last yr was as bad one apparently but have not heard from 2025, TBH it was a very mild winter and a lot of the climatic things in Fall of 2023 didn’t happen the same way. A lot of BC lakes incl Roche got hit bad last yr. Dave

Thanks, you make a very fair point re it being early in the season and yeah, I’m one of them who go once a yr for the early chironomid and mayfly if they come off. It is slow right now but fish are healthy. Dave

It’s always packed at the opening time but I thank you both for your responses. I was just thinking the constant ‘name no lake’ mantra is a bit misconstrued for a lake that is so, so well known for spring fishing and mayflies or damsels or chironomods or sedges or hoppers or rattlesnakes or more...

Hmmm…was not expecting zipper lips writ large. I guess the road in is washed out, the weather and fishing is crap with many big grizzlies prowling in the campsite slots…if you can get one 😎 and many raging log truckers steaming down the grade. I am obviously naive or possibly stupid to think...

Sorry if this annoys anyone but tired of zipperlips on very well known lakes and so I’ve an ask. I’m off for an annual group spring trip to Chopaka in just over a week. Would love to get a note on here or via a pm re how the fish are for this yr, water level, and so on. Last yr was mad with...

    What Are You Eating?

All this pork chat makes me think of the Town & Country stores. I use the Ballard one a lot as fairly nearby. Anyhoo, they sell a brand of pork, Beeler’s I think but whatever type of pig they raise, they are really good. The pork chops are marbled with fat, not just white meat and so grill or...

If you can’t go to Kamloops

My fear exactly of like, 3x over to be a bit breezy…my Journey handles like an old Buick on water…saving grace is I can use my motor, Chopaka was a real bastard on a couple of days when it ‘blew up’ last year. It took me 30 minutes to row 200 yards into a raging gale. Dave
