Boat + hike lakes in western WA?

100% is. Haven’t been recently to see water levels (seasonally, should be high now) but it’s a paved launch and gravel/rocks to the water when the water gets low.

What do you think the jig hook does for you vs a standard down eye hook? Just easier to tie the fly on with the extra space from the foam “blob”?

    Playing Hooky

Okay, thought it might be clay but it also looked rectangular in the pic like the hood of an F150 or something.

    My 5 Year Report

I had a lot of non-fishing fun. King Street was different then for sure. Folly hasn't changed all that much.

    What Are You Eating?

Yeah grilled asparagus frequently does come off overdone, I agree. I used to grill asparagus, but not really anymore. Steamed or sauteed are my go-to methods for asparagus these days.

    What Are You Eating?

Yes it is a thing that you didn't know about but now you do. I first had "blasted broccoli" at the Black Bottle in Seattle back in the day. It's been a staple for a while. I didn't cook this batch--I was busy using my license to grill. Sometimes I like just good ol' crisp-tender steamed...

    My 5 Year Report

Great post and welcome back. -Home? If I were to move back to the Southeast, the Lowcountry would be my No. 1 focal area (CofC grad, I didn't really fish locally while I was in skool and didn't get to sample the LC inshore flyfishing until later). There is still a draw for me for sure.

    Puget Sound

Sometime this summer @Irafly is supposed to take me out and show me how to use a type 7 full sink line to catch flounder from stupid deep depths. We should link up for that day, which could be legendary.

    What Are You Eating?

I like to make a couple foil packets of wood chips. I’m into pecan. Put them straight on the far side burner on high, and alternate the burners under the chicken off and on. Mostly off. Perfect amount of smoke. And are you Down With the Crispness? I am.

    Sammamish Sturgeon?

It’s brilliant because if you don’t catch anything you can just eat the bait.

    Sammamish Sturgeon?

I was night fishing for catfish with my brother in Alabama as a kid. We favored night crawlers and chicken livers for bait. It was a pleasant, breezy summer night, but action was slow. I thought I had a bite so I started reeling and came tight, but it was a snag. A flexible snag. I realized the...

    What Are You Eating?

I won’t be googling that one, but when I was a kid it had two main meanings. Primary was a joust where two people are trusty steeds and hoist knights upon their shoulders who thereupon engage in battle to dismount the other knight. This was frequently done in the water. The secondary meaning was...
