    Correcting braided line?

Yeah, I totally agree. I have shit-ton of specialty lines. But with the current cost of lines, I'm willing to try making a couple of " phone cord," lines semi usable.

    Correcting braided line?

I might try soaking the lines in hot water, before applying tension. Sneaky suspicion that maybe I get them better, but then any amount of time on the reel will just mess them up again. They both have a great even sink rate for intermediates which I like, so worth experimenting.

    Correcting braided line?

Yes^ ...telephone cord. The 10 wght line is the worst, if I can get it corrected the line is a good match for my two hand OH rod, so I'm hoping I can repurpose.

    Correcting braided line?

My Dad is sending me random fly gear since he just turned 87. I received a couple of clear lines that have a braided running line. Since I'm anal about line maintenance I immediately went to working out coils, straightening/ stretching....but also making sure the line wasn't rotten or had weak...

    2024 Bison Score

F Friendly correction ...fires of '88. I spent the summer working construction at Old Faithful. We stayed on the big day when most everyone was evacuated. From the safety of the parking lot we watched the fire miraculously burn around complex.

    floating line question

I still just nail knot a section to the line, tie a loop on the other end for your leader to loop to.. Don't believe this has ever failed me.

    Switch rod Beulah 10’8”

I bought an Opal 2 a few months ago. Newbie to the overhead cast but getting dialed in quickly. Members recommended the Beulah over the Echo if a faster action is needed. I've isolated some lines in the 300g range which work pretty well with 5/6 rod. I really like this rod but honestly feel...

    I just had to.

If you ever decide to sell give me a holler. I have a 5, 6, and 7. I prefer the 9' -2pc. I use all three every year. Pretty certain I would cry if one broke.

What Are You Fishing For This Weekend?

This weekend might see if I can find a carp in rising river waters. My only chance for musky is Monday night/Tuesday. I'm guessing they are getting an eye full this weekend. Think I'll experiment with some bucktails instead of big and ugly.

    Do NOT trout set!

The reaction happens quicker than the brain sometimes. I find myself repeating to myself " strip set, strip set," while I fish.🤣

    Do NOT trout set!

After two days of catching pike I thought I had my brain dialed. Ducked in a tiger lake on the way home and had my first experiences with fish that would put their nose on the fly but REFUSE to eat. Then one did....yep...you got it. You don't trout set on a muskie. Dummy.

    Beulah vs Echo?

The biggest problem I had with applying the 2H rod to some of my freshwater was dealing with a 30' head. Typically the retrieve needs to bring the fly closer to the rod, which then requires a few false casts to get the cast initiated. This prompted me to try a shorter head. The 280 grain...

    Beulah vs Echo?

So I ended up getting a custom line made for my Beulah Opal2 . I went with a 20' head. What a difference maker for the lake fishing I do. Love this rod setup and having a huge amount of fun casting a 2H-OH rod. Posted these pics on the weekend thread but figured I would do the same here. Alot of...

    Need/Want new Honda30 outboard.

I hear you. My 16' War Eagle has a side console. Hoping to keep the Honda shifter I bought about 6 years ago, to save some $. Doesn't seem like there is much available inland.
