    Winston Doubling Down

A friend recently informed me of Sage changing their warranty policy. I'm not sure I understand how they can do that retroactively. When I purchased my rods, I'm pretty sure it was a lifetime guarantee and I only have to pay a shipping fee which I understand increases over time, and in the...

    2025: A Fantastic Pink Year?

I fished primarily with a 5wt TiCri for years until I drove off with it on the roof (second time I did that too, first was an 8wt Fli). It handled everything it hooked just fine. What you have to consider when thinking about what wt rod is the size of the fly. I didn't throw big and or heavy...

Skagit Wild Steelhead Fishery Monitoring - Under Threat of Budget Cuts

If they close a fishery down, they still have to have some ability to enforce it. Seems like that cost and need exists whether a body of water is open or not.

    WDFW Columbia River Survey

I just received an email asking me to view the meeting from Monday and take a survey regarding the Columbia Steelhead and Salmon fisheries. Hoping you all are aware of this Lower Columbia River Tributary Fisheries Survey as well.

Why in the world does WA still have paper-only fishing licenses?

What I’d like to see is charging non-residents much more than they currently are. I think the only concern I have about substantially increasing the cost for residents is that they consider the effect on the number of people fishing without a license.

New deleterious regulations for the Idaho Panhandle streams

I didn't know people that fished with bait ever really practiced catch and release, I guess with the exception of salt water fisheries. Are there really fishermen out there that practice catch and release using bait? Am I that naive? I know people fish with bait illegally in no harvest...

Why in the world does WA still have paper-only fishing licenses?

Yes, I told him the first day I don’t keep fish and he said it didn’t matter. This river has trout, bass, pike minnows, whitefish but also steelhead and salmon. I was swinging for steelhead .

Why in the world does WA still have paper-only fishing licenses?

So my experience was a bit interesting. First off, I have been fishing this river for at least 20 years and never seen a WA warden on it. I drove up river to fish for the day and saw one of my favorite runs was empty so I pulled over and parked to fish it. As I got out of the truck I realized...

Why in the world does WA still have paper-only fishing licenses?

When I was checked last fall I brought this up with the game warden. I told him my Idaho and Oregon licenses were digital and on my phone and why aren't Washington's. He said they are working on it and it should be a thing within a couple years. I don't know if they have elementary students...

    Waders

This is why I have Patagonia waders. They are the only ones that provide an off the shelf wader that fits me and my apparently abnormally large feet.

    Waders

Try the LOC waders. For $1,700 I would think they scan your body first and make a pair up that fit you perfectly. All you Dawg fans are loaded, so the price point shouldn’t be an issue for you.

    Seattle Orvis Store Closing

I just received a letter from Simon Perkins informing me they are shutting down the Seattle store in March. I feel so special. I think I’ve been in there only once when COVID first hit to buy a buff. Anyway, sounds like they are discounting inventory at this store until it is closed. No...

What's your favorite mono running line & why?

I had been having pretty bad experiences with my OPST Lazar line so this thread was of interest to me. Early on, I tried quite a few different running lines and ended up settling on Amnesia. It has its issues, but it was $6, so I was content. I then tried casting my friend's rod with the...

Another Competitor in the Single Man Raft World

There are the D rings that the frame is attached on the outside that can be used and you can also latch onto the frame itself. I agree, you can't have too many options, but I would think there are enough options to secure stuff in the back on this one. I was also looking at the image of the...

    Muzzleloading

Interestingly, I was talking to a few muzzlerloaders that drew a permit in the area I was in and they said that muzzlerloaders are pretty successful and their harvest rate is pretty high. One of the guys had an incredibly modern version, not at all what I would have expected to see.

Pretty good fire there this summer that burned up a lot of river left. We, dog and I, came back from some spots covered in ash/dust/charcoal. That fire pushed a lot of the animals to other areas.
