    Snohomish to close until november.

Exactly! The guides who book trips and now have to cancel or relocate are just part of the reason this sucks. Others schedule vacation days to get in on the fishery knowing it will go downhill every day after Oct 13, with fewer and fewer bright fish. If it's that close to the line that a few...

    Official Beach Rod Thread

Another Blitz fan - I have the 6wt for SeaRuns and the 8wt for Coho/boat. My fave saltwater rod right now.

    NW Ontario (mostly non-fly)

We used to take family vacations at Little Moose Lodge in Emo, Ontario. Lots of walleye, pike, and muskie were caught. The loons, wolves, and moose are especially cool extras., and it sure is a magical place. And Walleye shore lunch = yum. Thanks for the pics Northern, definitely a trip down...

    The good boat deal thread

The old adage "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is" seems relevant in this case, as it was in many boats I looked at that were listed at exceptional prices that appeared well maintained in the photos.

    Another Crappie Evening

Decided to try a bobber-less tactic and stripped small beadhead streamers along the outer weedline on floating line at dusk. Pretty cool tightline grabs -

    Cows were lying down....

I will say that if I ever see cows in a vertical position the last thing I'll probably be thinking about is whether or not the fish are biting. ;)

How many rods have you broken?

Broken 6 casting and another 5 doing dumba$$ stuff. I used to test a lot of pre production spey rods and still remember certain models that had blank -weaknesses- that often resulted in breakage. Especially the old Sage 10151and the CND 13' 7wt Custom, because they each were great casting...

    The good boat deal thread

Hey Skyriver, you're absolutely right on all your observations. I was hesitant as well, because of the 2 stroke. But I posted it for discussion on a whim and after further thought have decided to keep it. :) I looked for quite a while for that particular hull/configuration in good condition...

    The good boat deal thread

Here's my contribution to the Good Boat Deal. :) This was an end stage Covid purchase, my attempt to buy/build the ultimate inshore and light offshore boat. 2007 Alumaweld Stryker 17' in pristine condition. All upholstry and full canvas enclosure in good condition. Has Merc 90hp Optimax...

Ready to pay for weather reports and forecasts?

I'm sure people in areas that demand accurate forecasts (coastal areas, tornado alleys, etc) for both recreation and survival will have a 'pro' level option . . .at a price. This is bullshit no matter what party or entity proposes it. We pay federal taxes . . . for what??? Foreign aid, bribes...

    Watermaster who fishing them?

@Truth. Or fishing down a high bank that would be really tough to walk back up to your anchored boat. I have both Kodiak and Grizzly, right up there with my favorite boats.

    The Ohuhu stove

Dammit Ive . . . your reviews always get me. First it was an InstaPot, then an AirFryer, now a mini Solo Stove. I still use the first two regularly, and am already a Solo Stove fan. Didn't know these little baby versions were out there, but agree that you can't go wrong at that price. Can't...

Maiden trip for the Costco boat box.

That Costco boat box rocks. Pretty much my mobile 'boating essentials' box for the Alumaweld..' PSA the Woodinville Costco has them in both colors.

    Replacement for Subaru Forester?

Wife bought the 2025 Forester Touring edition. She had the 2015 Forester and this new car is a different beast. Really smooth acceleration and quiet on the road. I kinda wish Subaru had a full size truck! 😀

    Summer Steelhead Trip Advice

Personally, I'd head straight up to Vancouver Island and fish the Cowichan. Trout are a given, might be some early Summers around as well. Bogie/Calawah hasn't had much of a summer return in recent years, sounds similar to the story Evan's telling of the Clack and Sandy. North Umpqua would be...

    2007 Triumph T100 FS

It was Roper's time 2 years ago, today it's time for me. I've enjoyed caring for this amazing bike, it has a great sound with the offroad pipes. And it's the easiest riding bike I've ever owned. The original post is below - I still have the original cafe racer windshield and mirrors. I...

    Inflatable Family Boat

Hi Jared, I have an almost identical boat and it has plenty of room for 2 adults and a couple (small) kids. Works fine with any form of propulsion, rowed-electric-small outboard. Not too heavy and rolls up small enough to fit in the wife's Subaru Forester. Plus if you're rowing you can get...

    Passing of author Steve Probasco

Steve was legit and I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Back in the day I frequently fished with one of his eastside fishing partners (Tim Irish). Tim's stories of nocturnal monster trout they encountered in the seep lakes led me to many nights kicking around those same lakes. RIP Steve!
