Restoration of an old Hardy bamboo fly rod

Jerry - good for you on launching into a refinish project. Those are a labor of love, and it can be very satisfying to fish a rod that you have poured so much effort into once you're done. Finally got out and fished some bamboo I picked up.

Wow, what a great trip and great report! Sula has become one of my go-to areas, the cutts in the E and W forks are a bit scattered and a bit of work to find but it make for some pleasant fishing, especially with a nice bamboo rod. And is that an Iwana reel? What size? Cool!!!

    Vintage Hardy

Cliff, I’m excited that YOU are excited about those rods. Two of the finest casting bamboo rods I’ve ever had the pleasure to cast, and not bad to look at either! Since the door to the bountiful abundance of classic reels is open to you as a RHW guy (I’m jealous), I’d second the idea of a...

Fly Rods cheap (basically Garage Sale time!)

I'm in no hurry, if you want to reach out whenever you do cross that pond I'll try to meet. It's just sitting in my closet. Being to 2 piece rod, shipping is no fun to pack and would be pricey even somewhat local.
