I ran into them too! Are y'all forum members? How did you do? Had no luck fly casting from the boat either but a couple schools passed and went 2/4 on the Buzz bomb. Spent the earlier morning trolling for Kings out by Jeff head until I birdsnested one of my downriggers, attempted to run a dipsy...

    Show Us Your Humpies !!!

I gotta disagree, just ate a bright humpy hen and it tasted great with the previously posted fish fry and a curry recipe. I agree with you when they hit the rivers though. I don't even mean "good for a humpy", I mean good period. Throwing on seasoning seems to make the mild flavor more appreciable.

My new favorite way to eat pink- Deep fried in Pakistani Pakora spices. Haven't eaten fish like this since I was a little kid and it made me nostalgic, I'd almost forgotten about it. My mom used to make it with Costco rainbow trout

Forgot to bring the sand from the beach to marinate him. Got this guy on a dart jig! Lost more than I can count on the buzzbomb and dart jig, probably 2 for 10 total? Wanted to let him go but the dart jigs seem to do a number on them, even with a #1 siwash. This fish was bleeding (Not convinced...

Thoughts as to why they moved off deep with the wind shift and tide change?

    Multi species Merwin trip

Someone had a NPM put in a fish jail on the Kalama last time I was there, built a dam for it and left it in a pool. I took it down so the poor guy could swim away, he didn't deserve to die like that even if he eats baby salmon

    Non-Fly Samish "Fishery"

Anyone brave it this year with the new regs? Considering heading up and throwing some eggs but I thought I'd ask here to see if the new regs made any difference so I know what to expect

How are you guys 6' and over buying sleeping bags?

It was pricey but I have a Nemo Disco 15C Long. Fits folks up to 6'6, I'm 6'4 and find it very comfortable.

Slow afternoon tide on a whidbey beach, lots jumping but too far to fast to, called it when the wind picked up. Got to use a fly @Stonedfish kindly gave me a while back though!

    Favorite Attractor Nymphs

Starting off fly fishing for trout I was always told dries are the hardest to get right, but so far all of my trout have come to hand from a dry fly. It seems like it isn't always necessary to perfectly match the hatch, and general attractors like Simulators consistently do great. I have had a...

    Naches Roadside Camping

We got number 12! Buddy hooked a nice fish that put a bend in the 6wt, sadly got off. His GF hooked 3 nice Brookies on the blue fox. All I had to show for the trip was some rises out of the little fish in Crows Creek and one to the net haha

    Rialto Beach (8-27-2024)

Just got back from a camping trip with my GF in Eastern WA- stayed at a site suggested by a kind fellow board member and had a great time. It got me thinking of our last trip. It was pouring rain when we set up camp, but even we managed it. I woke up early hoping to capture sunrise lighting at...

Will definitely go look for them next time I am out- Funny thing is trolling with coho sized gear and coho speeds usually boats tons of pinks as well as coho, but the pinks tend to be on the bigger end of the size range.

    Naches Roadside Camping

Planning a last minute trip to the Naches, and not really finding any camp sites. Thinking about camping at a pullout on a forest road or another, but a little concerned about safety. Had a nasty experience in the middle of nowhere on Vancouver island where my family were essentially threatened...

    Non-Fly 2025 Summer Salmon

Only one extra day of retention as rains are expected to push fish into the rivers, with 28% of quota remaining just does not make sense to me. Anyways, seeing as the season is just about over, thought I would share my success- 30.5 inch 13lb buck at the end of the low slack. Second best fish...

If you want to work hard at it there are definitely catchable numbers of pinks in the sound from a boat right now. Would probably need downriggers though
