To my understanding, USFS land is public land, open to the public. So why can't the public take care of their own land? I have an idea why, and I pick up litter on public land all the time. But locking off public land to the public is not the answer.

I'm just glad I bought my 4x4 F250 super duty turbo diesel in 1996. This pickup has 250,000 plus miles on it, empty highway, 20 plus miles per gal. pulling my 20' camp trailer 15 to 18 depending on the wind. If something happens to this truck I will rebuild it before I buy a newer one.

This reminds me of the Rock Island area of the Columbia River. There had been a earthen dam that broke and the mountain side on the southwest side of the river/lake. Where Malaga is today slide off and made another earthen dam that also broke. History is repeating it's self from man made dams

The last larger size coastal cutts (14" plus) I've caught have taken my Sally X dry fly deep into their gills. I was able to release all but one unharmed. I explain this as the trout being aggressive feeders. They want that big fat fly really bad. I have also had large trout completely swallow...

My favorite is a campground on the Clark Fork in MT with the railroad crossing right across the river. The train has to use it's horns before it gets to the crossing, and there was a train going by at least a half a dozen times every night.

A little off point, but I figure when the fish gets off it saves me the issue of release. When fish are getting off for what seems like no reason I check my hook for sharpness. I have never done the dropshot thing when nymphing. I tie my nymphs weighted so I do have the extra hinge to deal with.

Thanks for the pics. This does not surprise me at all, get the damn dam out of the way and life will go now. As a kid I went with my folks to Iron Gate one summer to picnic with friends. The pics of that creek look just like that creek that drained into the lake.
