Anyone used OPST T6 tips w/ SA Spey Lite Skagit Heads?

I've never seen that in either my SA or my OPST lines. The strength of the line comes from the core, so it shouldn't compromise the strength. Eventually it will affect your casting/fishing, and at that point, cut and loop, and turn it into a head.

    Bamboo and the Winters Hope

James Chalmers was the guy responsible for the design of Carron lines. He is now principal at Gaelforce. If you want long belly lines, take a look at Gaelforce. IMHO, much better/newer designs than Carron.

    Welding Heads?

A hair straightening iron works better than a heat gun for welding lines. Also spool of 30# Airflo Ridge running line is handy to have for building loops on fat spey heads, or for repairs of cracked lines. The Ridge line will weld to almost anything. If the line has a monofilament core...

$100 Million for One Square Mile: Deal to Protect Land in Grand Tetons (NY Times)

$100 million for a square mile? I congratulate Wyoming for maximizing the profit for their taxpayers. It's a fools errand for the US government to pay that kind of money for a square mile of land. Well at least it didn't end up in the hands of another fucking elite billionaire liberal.

10 feet, 9 inches. It's marketed as a Euro nymph rod, but it is a killer single hand trout spey, among other things.

Anyone used OPST T6 tips w/ SA Spey Lite Skagit Heads?

FWIW, I fish OPST 10 foot T-8 tips on my 3113 Burkie with a 270 grain SA integrated Skagit, and the same on my T&T 4109 Contact 2 with a 180 grain integrated Skagit. They work fine on both. With the exception of Rio 15 foot type 3, Rio MOW and iMOW 5x5, OPST tips are just about all I use anymore.

NFR Witching Rods - I tried it …. You?

It works, and the more you do it the better the result. It would be foolish to start digging without calling for a locate when utilities are present. You need to CYA in that situation. I've used it, and seen it used at at ski areas to avoid digging up snowmaking pipe and electrical. If you...

    Problems Casting a Heavy Sink-Tip

Type 6 or type 8 tips typically cast like a stick. Combine that with a delicate front taper of your fly line, and it's going to be tough to cast. Cut the front taper off the line back a bit, day 10 feet, add a loop, and if your tip is about the same grain weight as the section removed, it...
