    Mop fly material at walmart

I don't tie them, but the fibers would seem to work for the fly

CHEAPNESS IS IT'S OWN REWARD I was at a local pet store when I saw that they were throwing out some plexiglass that they used for fishtank covers. I took the pieces home and cobbled together a cloche for one of my raised beds. I used scrap wood which I had on hand, so total cost was zero...

    What's in your vise?

Rainy's HI-VIZ Ant Body I am the first to admit that I have enough material to last another 4 lifetimes, but I am still a sucker for "new" materials. I saw the foam bodies in a local shop and bought a few packs. After using the material I have to say that tying was quicker, but I don't think...

I am a big fan of Hinkelhatz peppers. They are little known, but have a high Scoville rating and work well for making spicy salsas. They also grow well in the short summer of NH where I live.

    SFR Cigars 101

Personally, I am a pipe guy. I actually only smoke when fishing as the fumes keep the biting bugs at bay (mostly). Although I have some expensive pipes which I inherited from my uncle, I use corn cob pipes on the river. On occasion, one will jump into the water so the loss is not a big deal...

    Seattle Orvis Store Closing

Orvis, like LL Bean has become a clothing store which also sells a few sports items. A&F doesn't even pretend anymore. They just sell trendy clothing to the "cool" people

    Teach me to Fish Chironomids?

It is eminently possible to fish for Chronies without using a bobber. Try "high stick" techniques where you just keep the fly off the bottom as you slowly retrieve. It is more difficult to fish this way, but way better than sitting on your butt watching for a bobber to go down. Fishing with a...

Eddie Bauer and Fiberglass Fly rods

Retail stores change to stay alive. Abercrombie & Fitch were once high-end adventure outfitters. They supplied Teddy Roosevelt with all his gear for his safaris in Africa, treks in the Arctic, and exploration of wild rivers in South America. Now they just sell "chic" clothing to posers, but...

    NFR 2025 Gardening Growing Thread

Nothing special, just a winter day here in NH. Red Bellied Woodpecker at the feeder. He normally is at the suet block, but for some reason (wanting roughage in his diet?) he spent time picking seeds

New Article: What Are Wading Pants (Dryft SEEKR Review)

I wear waist high waders whenever possible. Probably 90% of the time. The short waders help keep me from doing something stupid like wading chest deep.
