    Island trip

Thats when you shrug and back down anyway, they'll move it real fast or find out why you don't leave it there.

    Island trip

Tale as old as time? As a dirty kayaker myself I get it. Most people with kayaks have them on top of their car or in their truck bed, and the process of getting the kayak off the vehicle is one that involves cursing and crashing of plastic vessels to the ground, kayak carts are OK, but still...

    The good boat deal thread

This popped up on my feed this morning https://www.facebook.com/share/1CTYXrsGcb/?mibextid=wwXIfr For the non facebooked: Classic, unsinkable Boston Whaler Montauk in good condition. This legendary boat features the original solid fiberglass hull with Boston Whaler's signature foam-core...

Truck campers: Looking for lightweight options that won't break the bank

One of the nice things about buying a truck + slide in is that when I'm not using the slide in (most of the time) I have a perfectly functional truck to drive around. In Portland I lived near someone who clearly had bought a camper van but didn't have another truck. They not only spent probably...

    Wading boots suggestions?

I also love the Patagonia Foot Tractors that they made with Danner. I was bummed when they got discontinued and bought a second pair with the bars on them. You still might be able to find them in the wild for a discount though since they only got discontinued in January I think. The weight is...

    WDFW Digital license

It sounds like almost all the issues revolve around the ability to choose a paper vs. digital license. I'd expect next year for it to be smoother since you have to use the digital license.

    WDFW Digital license

My app started showing me the catch card a little bit ago. They must have pushed through a new update. Looks nice now, hopefully I get to put the catch record card to more use than last year

    WDFW Digital license

Weird, I switched to digital as soon as they announced it was a thing, But I'm listed as a paper license holder on the side and in the app. Guess I have another year of wrangling a mile of paper.

Truck campers: Looking for lightweight options that won't break the bank

There are smaller scouts that won't be as heavy, that one looks like one of the bigger ones. Alaskan also makes them small enough and the hard sided pop up seems nicer than the soft sided options in the winter for the popup type. nuCamp makes a smaller ~1600lb option as well. There is the...

    WDFW Digital license

Bought my digital one this morning. Everything shows up nicely in the mywdfw app which I also installed, not sure if I had to choose catch cards in the shop but I did so far so goo.

    a reel that isn't a reel?

I think its worth pointing out that the injected molded plastic one is only $75, the $250 option is CNC milled out of metal.

This Is One "Bad Ass" Lady!

I got checked out on a whidbey beach today by WDFW. When I got home I finally realized why I recognized the name of one of the officers, it was Officer Tank! Wish I remembered at the moment, maybe I could have gotten a picture!

Oregon Ballot Initiative on Hunting and Fishing

Getting things on the ballot in OR is also a really low bar, basically don't need to do anything other than hang out in front of new seasons in Portland for a few weeks and you should get the required number.

    Run Etiquette

When this happens to me its a giant "It depends." If its a hike in run and I see cars at the parking area I try and make a judgement call on how many cars there are, how big the run is etc. Theres a run on the Skagit that a lot of people (used to anyway) like to cross a stream and fish the top...
