FWIW I've been happy with Redington Chromer rods (out of production but available for ~$200 used) and Behemoth reels. YMMV but I think most people will have to do a lot of casting before that rod will be the limiting factor.

Lots to ponder WRT the "administrative delays" that arose after the "consultations" with the tribe and local landowners and have held up the transfer from the DOC to the WDFW since 2018 despite the WDFW having previously sought to acquire the property for years and the DOC supporting the transfer.
