Is the Two Bit access still open on the Skykomish

Are you talking about the Bar farm/ranch on the lower sky ? I think the farm still belongs to the family but with all the crime, garbage and such its no trespassing also. Seems to be theme here in western Washington.

Is the Two Bit access still open on the Skykomish

In the old days we could put money at the gate and drive down to the river. Launch wasn’t bad most years, but high water could leave a bunch of mud & dirt down at the bottom before you hit the gravel bar. Good salmon and steelhead area back then. Also some wild/native fish would spawn around...

Is the Two Bit access still open on the Skykomish

According to replies on Facebook, the owner no longer allows access to the river. Don’t blame them one bit with all the crime, drug addicts and everything else in the valley/ Snohomish county.

WDFW to end two early winter hatchery steelhead (chambers creek) programs

Success requires effort. Funny it works in Oregon.

    Yakima steelhead fishery history?

Some talk of the Spring Chinook run along with steelhead as far as no open season on them. But as usual WDFW is just happy managing the trout and bass fishing as taking care of all of them would require effort.

    Starter Two-Handed set up?

Ok so didn’t read through all the posts here. My worthless 2 cents is go to a good fly shop and try out a 2 hand rod like a 6 or 7 wt. or get a commando head that will fit one of your SH rods and play around with that. Also go to OPST website and watch some the casting videos. Ed does a good job...

Please convince me to buy a trout spey rod

WDFW to end two early winter hatchery steelhead (chambers creek) programs

Normally I would have said “Bingo” or dead nuts on. But I got a chance to talk to a couple of hatchery guys at Reiter this year and they were hard working guys that wanted to make things better. And then there is the guys at wallace hatchery trying to bring back the chum run. So only a few...

Sage is no longer on my radar

Does this mean i can never get my Winslow (oh ok Sage) drift rod repaired. Yea I broke the tip off back in the early eighties. Never thought Sage would fix it. I’m sure they don’t have that same material it’s made from anymore. By the way the first graphite rods from Winslow (Sage) were garbage...

    Puget Sound

Glad for you guys down there around the grays harbor area. Have noticed the better returns for summer fish and the chum run. Better forecast for winter fish this year and hope that holds for all areas. We still have a NS river trying to make a comeback with chums and thankfully one of the...

WDFW to end two early winter hatchery steelhead (chambers creek) programs

I am for opportunity. And this region (region 4) the worst of them all. We need every opportunity we can get. A big thanks to to all those involved in getting the chum salmon numbers back on the sky. If you don’t try you will always fail.

    Puget Sound

The only reason we turned up our nose at chum, pink or even colored up coho salmon was because we had plenty of steelhead back then. Or because we were to excited about bird hunting. Our group never looked down on dolly’s though.

    River Snorkeling with Cutthroat

There are 2 S rivers up here that are closed until September someone could check without having to worry about boats or others fishing. Both have searun populations that are struggling. One because of much habitat damage due to slides the other due to ??? Cormorants, harbor seals ??

Purchased the Cortland compact with the intermediate tip/head (clear tip) in a 265 grain for my 6 wt rod. I like the line it loads and casts well. Seems to have a coil to it even after fishing it for weeks and trying to stretch the line. I even used it on my 8 wt reddington salt rod . I would...

MA 9 wild coho retention and October closure

I would never advocate for less opportunity especially these days. But I do think we should err on the conservative side when it comes to the S rivers. Since it was not very long ago we were told of under escapement on the Snohomish system. And it seems there is plenty of hatchery coho to go...

I was considering the Cortland but seeing these issues come up I’m gun shy now. Back to the OBS ???? I like the short heads that OBS and the cortland have.

    What's Catching You Fish?

Better numbers on the dam counts this year. Too warm still at the mouth ? Seems the plunkers on the big C have had some success so far.

    Official Beach Line Thread

Looking at the Cortland Compact Intermediate on their website. Shows this line has a 26 foot clear head & light blue running line. Grain weights seem ok maybe a bit light compared to OBS. I am gun shy about purchasing this line after disappointment with buying other lines the last few years...
