Yesterday I went fishing upriver here on the N. Umpqua.
I have never seen the river this low even in late August.
This is good for me, cause as my legs aren't what they used to be, and I was able to wade out and fish a run that I have never been able to fish before.
Yes, I caught a couple of really nice coastal cuts, one 16" plus the other 14".
The river is still, cold but not too cold to wet wade.
I love fishing a dry fly in clear water and watching those big beautiful cutts come up from the bottom, even when they don't take my fly.
 
Been keepin’ an eye on the home waters of the NU. Not looking good at all. Too many straws in the ground and along the banks are really taxing a once great river. Add a no rain/snow winter and it’s doubly bad.
