Thanks for your input. I’m inclined to consider the Hex as a lake species. Taxon, Sculpin Swinger, and Cabezon are offering better possibilities without being able to examine a specimen.Hexagenia Limbata!
Hexagenia limbata hatch from the Columbia River in the vicinity of Wanapum and Priest Rapids dams. Probably from the reservoirs rather than downstream of Priest Rapids.Thanks for your input. I've only ever heard them called big yellow mayflies. Common in summer on west side rivers but never typically hatch in large numbers.Photographed on the Cowlitz this morning by Mike Sturza. Quite large as I recall about #12. Coloration yellow to chartreuse.View attachment 185417
