In summer it’s a small spent caddis. Large fish getter.I just wanted to say I was on Lower D over Memorial weekend, and the fish were keyed in on caddis. I was running low on tan, sz 16, X Caddis, so I tied some up. That fly never disappoints. X Caddis is right up there with parachute Adams, and film critic for me, for dries
How do you get such a uniformly round cross section like that?ManGold Muddler

It’s the main advantage, for me, of having a rotary vise (Renzetti Traveler); I just hold my scissors parallel (or in a slight downward angle in this case) to the hook shank and rotate the vise a fraction after each cut, without moving the scissors, until I’ve completed a complete 360. I usually have to go back and do some more trimming to get it even but the first time around is pretty close to the shape I want. How do you get such a uniformly round cross section like that?
Love that 2nd one (the olive red head)! Some lake stuff, been a while since I tied something.
