What's in your vise?

We need more of these on myflyvise jus sayin ;) no pressure or anything
Eh, some of my more recent ones are A. Not proven necessarily and B. Look like shit. Then again, most of my best producing patterns aren't all that aesthetically pleasing (this goes for all species I tie for.)

I just wanted to say I was on Lower D over Memorial weekend, and the fish were keyed in on caddis. I was running low on tan, sz 16, X Caddis, so I tied some up. That fly never disappoints. X Caddis is right up there with parachute Adams, and film critic for me, for dries

In summer it’s a small spent caddis. Large fish getter.

How do you get such a uniformly round cross section like that?

How do you get such a uniformly round cross section like that?
It’s the main advantage, for me, of having a rotary vise (Renzetti Traveler); I just hold my scissors parallel (or in a slight downward angle in this case) to the hook shank and rotate the vise a fraction after each cut, without moving the scissors, until I’ve completed a complete 360. I usually have to go back and do some more trimming to get it even but the first time around is pretty close to the shape I want.

Scott
