It dies with a wimper..

Yeah, I didn't make it up.. thought about going today, but have plans to take some friends wine tasting in Bellevue. I was going to go to the Emerald Water event, still could but the river is high and muddy like chocolate milk.

I'll start hitting the upper Yakima soon, mostly midweek and then some lakes and Project Mayfly outing in April!

I wanted to go out today but after fishing a couple of days out in Forks and going through the 'fun' of having to drive the long way back and forgetting my backpack at the lodge meant I just didn't have it in me. Time to spend some weekends getting house projects done and maybe sneak back to the OP or go south to OR.

DAMN!! Your name is so OFFENSIVE!! LOL!

TRAVERS

This year would have been my first winter season out there, sucks.

I got out to the Sauk for a few hours on Thursday at least and swung a few runs.
Any bumps with the Deep Purple you tied up???

I swung a similar fly on the other river Thursday….no love for me but I’m kinda lucky that way 😏

I fished last week for a day and a half and then went up this week for a couple of days - couldn't fish the lower river, too colored up for my liking, and still a bit high for where I wanted to fish. I had to move up and fished a few runs mid river and, on the Sauk, it just never felt fishy and I hung it up.

It's a real shame - we have the fish, just zero leadership in the department and the state is a mess fiscally - this could be a minimum two, even four, or even a six-year shut down - if they don't get their shit together

My buddy floated the Sky on Friday. Not sure if this is a client or if it was a guide's day off.
It was 4750 and dropping with some steelhead color. Perfect!
Not a single bump or grab.

Perfect water and no fish is sad.

I had 2 Saturdays and a Sunday in March on my calendar for the Skagit. I guess I'll save some $ on gas... :(

Talk about perfect and no fish…I stopped at this mid river seam twice, fishing while standing but still in the Commander…it’s oh so juicy and a little dicey to wade…alas nuthin, neither time.

I’m sort of grieving it today. I don’t really wanna go fish the Sound or lakes or drive over 3 hours to join the armada.

Drove about 10 hours today, to clear my heart, head and soul. Started at 5am.. just got home 20 minutes ago! I feel much better

The Sauk and Skagit looked great, a bit off color and high but ready to fish!
.
The Sky was high too, as well as the Snohomish. It rained hard most of the day! No eagles were seen, that's why i originally went up with my new camera Jake gave me.

Lots of great pics! Ill post a few. Cheers!

The Skagit was still colored up from the flood for most of January. I went out a couple times and wanted to fish Birdsview areas since that always does the best for me this early in the year. Was always murkier than I had hoped. I managed to get a nice little steelhead at the mouth of a creek which was the only clear water I could find.

I am very bummed that I have months before I can fish again.
