NFR Superb Owl 2026: Seahawks vs Patriots (official thread)

Non-fishing related
Got this for wine tasting at Brown Family Winery in Bellevue with friends from High School. A Seahawks one for the Super Bowl with mom and I! My sis and her family too.. doubt they will come down though!

This will be the 12th superbowl in my life that the Patriots have been in. At this point I know exactly what I am doing.

I will watch the game with my wife, at home. When the Patriots are in the Superbowl I do not go to or throw superbowl parties. I have done that before and it is miserable. The issue is that other people will talk. I find that unacceptable. So I will watch it with my wife. She won't talk really.

As for food, I usually have hot wings and loaded potato skins, Ribs etc. However, I have been trying to change my diet so I will likely have something with far less saturated fat and carbs. The food does not matter much for Pats superbowls. I rarely eat until the game is over when they are in it.

I will limit the amount of beer that I have available. I find it hard to moderate my drinking during the game. I get so focused on the game that I have no idea how many beers I may drink. I will probably get a metric shit ton of lacroix.

Yeah I'm the same way. I throw "Super Bowl parties" when it's not my team... so most years. The few times I get to watch my team is special, so want to be able to really WATCH the game, not just be present while it's on the TV and people socialize.

I have 4-5 friends coming over, all of whom are the same way and want to WATCH. We'll have food and will deal with that and the socializing during commercials/half time, but they all know when it's game time, we're concentrating on that.

Yeah at any Super Bowl party are the folks who watch one game a year, this one, and so spend most of time talking about anything but the game, and when they do talk about the game it's something like ' who are the guys in the green shirts'.
Which is fine when it's not your team in the game.

If my memory serves me right, most SBs (~33%) have lopsided scores - boring....

My home team has been to only 3 SBs and lost 2 of them...

So chances of me getting all hyped up to the watch the game are diminished.

This year will be different. A lopsided score with the Seahawks in the lead would be a much welcomed game to watch.

Here's a wet blanket: yesterday KIRO addressed the rumor that after the Super Bowl, the Seahawks will go up for sale. When the organization was contacted about it, the answer was basically either "We'll cross that bridge when we get there", or, "We're not selling"

Are big financial changes proposed for WA & SEA anything to be concerned about?

The Allen Trust mandates a sale of both the Trail Blazers (currently in process) and the Hawks with all proceeds going to philanthropic causes. If the sale had taken place before 2025 WA state would have imposed a 10% sales penalty.
The team will sell, just a matter of to who and when, and it's common sense to deny it prior to the SB to avoid distraction. And should the Hawks win = franchise value up just that much higher.
As a fan of good football without a dog in this one, looking forward to a well played game.

LaCroix for a Super Bowl ? Somehow that just seems wrong. Maybe at least grab some non alcoholic beer. There are some pretty good options these days, though your mileage may vary

Poor poor Patriots... they're gonna be wondering about their manhood after what the Seahawks are gonna do to them.

Insensitive of me to say? Yup, don't worry you'll live..

"most" actually means the "majority of", which would be >50%, so your 33% is quite far off on that designation.

Honestly, I just want to see a good game....probably rooting for the Chickens, but we'll see.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Patsies kept it close and even won it close. I also wouldn't be surprised if the SeaChickens run away with it. The only thing that would really surprise me is the Patsies winning in a blow out.

This is superbowl 60. This will be the patriots 12th superbowl. That means that the Patriots have been in 20% of all superbowls. That is pretty good, right?
The teams first was 1985. Since their 1st, the have been in 12 of 40 superbowls that is like 30%. It seems like they have been in the big game quite cosistently.
This Seattle's 4th right?

Huh...

Did you get some sort of special dispensation from a Donkey Deacon, Bronco Bishop type person to be able to do that ?
Payton might put a bounty out on you...

I'm not sure if The Official NFL Franchise of PNWFlyfishing.com™️ Your Seattle Seahawks are currently accepting any former Denizens of the Domiciled Donkey, (Bronco Bitches as colloquially known) applications for fandom...but will check and see.

Till then, it's Go Stiddy for you...
;)

Lesser of two evils is what it really boils down to...
