Post your first fish of 2026 here 🤠

Had to think for a minute to remember if I've caught a first fish of 2026. Aha! Yes, I did. It was a steelhead, mint bright too. But in a world of "pics or it didn't happen," it may not have happened. Unlike most people, I'm not glued to my phone, and that goes double for my camera. When I landed that fish I thought it would be nice to have a photo of it. But then I had to think about where my camera was. Not in my waders, not in my boat since I was walk and wade fishing, not in my car either as it turned out. It was, and still is, sitting on my desk from when I last charged the camera battery. Oh well, I probably wouldn't have snapped a photo anyway. It looked just like any other mint bright 7 pound male steelhead, so I could just look through my photo files for a picture of one if I wanted a reminder.

I'm going trout fishing in northern California on my way home from Utah in a couple weeks. I'll try to remember my camera and take a picture of one of them foreign trout. Maybe.
 
I think this is the first fish pic I have of 2026 (at least in my 2026 folder), but definitely not the first fish I caught for 2026 since that was the end of February...probably a whitey or redside.

On the board today for 2026. I typically don't start fishing until late May so I'm off to a good strart. Capr starts in a couple weeks, and then ocean gets going. Fun just getting started.
