    Yakima River

New: live conditions for the Upper Yakima & Farmlands I just added fishing info and live conditions for two more stretches of the Yakima — the Upper Reach (Cle Elum area) and the Farmlands. A quick note on the data: some metrics, like water temperature, don't have a gauge at every location...

🎣 Built a free tool to track your fly tying materials — would love feedback

I just shipped a couple of features to make your patterns look sharp and easy to share. The one thing I will note is that the image cleanup can be compute intensive, so be patient. It can take up to a minute to generate. All of the new features are available in the custom pattern section. ✨...

    Yakima River

This is what I have been using. It should have everything for the Canyon: https://yakimacanyon.outfish.in/ . It connects to all the official data sources and should be the same or better since it uses anomaly detection to identify bad data coming in from the sources (e.g., when the dam meters...

I have implemented the functionality to make custom materials for others to select. It will be up to the creator to decide if they want to share the material definition with others. Currently, they go to an approval page I will moderate for now. I want to make sure people don’t abuse the site...

@SurfnFish - I built the photo-and-category feature for exactly that reason. If I’m at the store and can’t remember whether I already bought something, I can pull up the category on my phone and quickly scan through the images. It helps me avoid buying too many duplicates. I’m also planning to...

Hey PNW tyers 👋 Like most of you, I've got drawers full of materials and never quite remember what I have when I'm at the vise or at the shop. So I built something to fix that. Fly Tying Inventory (https://www.flytyinginventory.com) — a free web app that lets you: 📦 Track what you own — log...

    Switch Rod or Not?

I have fished a switch in the sound. In practice in seems like a good idea but in practice I found it not useful. Fish are 95% of the time close enough to cast with a single hand. The only scenario I would recommend is if you have shoulder problems.

What line are people running with the Sage X 596-4?

I am looking for general grain window experience with rod. The reason is because I heard the X 596-4 does well with 6wt lines. The first line I am looking for is for beaching fishing the sound.
