I've used it when out hunting, works great. I haven't had a long enough cable outage on whidbey to turn it back on after moving to standby to test speeds for normal day to day stuff though.
For my 14' monster of a kayak I could load it into the back of 6.5' bed of my RAM without a hitch extender. BUT it was a giant pain in the ass with how heavy the boat is and how tall the truck is. Using a hitch extender wasn't really needed but it made it a lot easier to get the leverage to lift...
Found a fly box at the 101 Hole on the Skagit today. Judging by the condition someone lost it yesterday or maybe before, possibly upriver of where I found it. If you can describe it you can be reunited, otherwise I'll take it as the universe paying me back for the box of flies I lost last week...
The beach I usually fish has been slower than normal, but saw this guy chasing bait around. Took a while to find the fly he wanted but he finally hit a flatwing.

Luckily the fact that people lie to the creel checkers is well known and predictable so one can safely assume that the model that WDFW uses also accounts for that.
No there did used to be a "Whats new" or new posts or something along those lines that was always pinned in the lighter green bar. I think the apps bumped it off somehow. I also used that to just refresh the unread messages, it also had slightly different behavior than that new posts link.
