Bamboo and a break in the smoke

"The Stayner Ducktail is a classic wet fly and streamer pattern invented in the 1960s by Ruel Stayner, a sporting goods store owner from Twin Falls, Idaho designed to imitate perch fry." My good friend Kent Lufkin acquired a Stayner Ducktail from Ruel himself. Kent gifted me this fly a few...

    Fiberglass/Cottonwood build

Thanks for the details, I really like the old growth color and look myself. I need to find a cottonwood tree with a downed section. When we lived on Ames Lake there was a GIANT cottonwood tree next door. I really hated the seeds it dropped on our cars and left brown stains on the finish. If...

I guess I'm...

    Bamboo in the rain.

I forgot to mention that Dave had the Wilderness Lite tube inflated for me and insisted that I get on the water and do some fishing while he tried to come up with a solution to the valve in the other Wilderness. I was going to come back if Dave could not fix the valve. But luckily Dave was on...

    Bamboo in the rain.

What a fun way to spend a Friday with a good friend, on a secret pond and some very aggressive cutties after a short hike with a loaned Wilderness Lite float tube from Dave! I landed a dandy on a damsel nymph right off the start, about 13" plus, beautiful fish and very frisky and healthy. I...
