    Simms kudos

Last fall, I was wading in my pair of Simms Freestones when I realized my backside was damp. These waders are probably 10 years old, and I probably sat in something along the way that left a 'stain' on the waders that was the cause of the leak. At home, I tried cleaning and sealing without...

Intel on fishing streams near Fernie BC or Glacier NP

I'm looking to extend a trip to N. Idaho on the St. Joe in early to mid-September. Typically we go to visit friends in Missoula and fish a few days, however the reports of their rivers look poor (low water, high temps.) So, both Fernie, BC and Glacier are roughly equidistant from the St. Joe...

    SOLD Korkers Darkhorse wading boots

I've had this model Korkers for several years. They're comfortable, easy on/off with the BOA and the interchangeable sole is useful (I use the alum. bars). I've used in fresh and salt water with no problems.

    Lightweight wading boots: your experience

Anglers: who has experience with the Korkers Steath Sneaker & Chrome Lite boots? How about the Patagonia Forra? Specifically, how are the soles in the water, do they have good, safe grip? I'm attracted to the light weight of both sets of shoes. I have Korkers Devil's canyon boots. I use the...

    Most important river wading gear...

Another fan of the Korkers boots. I have two pairs, each with aluminum bar soles and my wife uses the aluminum disks on the soles of her Korkers. I've used these for several years in all kinds of conditions and they have unfailingly provided solid traction on golf ball to baseball to basketball...

    England Fly Fishing 2024

Our son and his girlfriend moved to London and my wife and I planned a trip to visit them and travel in England and Ireland. I began making inquiries about Fly Fishing for May and June. My first thought was a pilgrimage to the famous English Chalk Streams. After some digging on the internet, I...

How do you transport your fly rods?

Haggis: I like your DYI version of this one and they way they ride high, leaving room below for gear, etc. Question: in your and in the https://troutmount.com, the rod tips are bent. Have you seen any issues with the rods? Yeah, yeah, I know the rods bend when we land a fish.

How do you transport your fly rods?

These are good. question about the rooftop tubes (Thule, Riversmith, etc.). Looking online at the manufacturers videos, there's a PVC tube inside an alum. tube. Seems like rods will bounce around inside the tube on rough roads (I see one mfgr. has foam elements that hold the rods away from the...

How do you transport your fly rods?

After 4 days camping and bouncing around rough backroads fishing small streams I’m rethinking my current strategy. Two assembled and rigged 9’-0” rods fit nicely in my Subaru wagon, with back seats folded down, the rod tips on the dashboard wrapped in a towel (or on this trip a hot pad holder...
