Having camped at Gold Basin many times before the closure I have been watching this project closely, and headed up there this week to see for myself if a favorite riffle near the edge of the project are had been impacted.
Sadly that run isn't the same now but still swung up a few spunky...
Take exit 34 off I-90, drive up the Middle Fork road, and once you get past the Mailbox Peak parking there are miles and miles of public access up there (all state and federal land). Bring your Discover Pass (and a Northwest Forest Pass if you go up that far) and have fun!
Was up on one of my favorite small rivers this last weekend to take advantage of the the early low flows happening this year. Still a bit high but seems to be dropping down 3-4 weeks ahead of average so time to get out there before it it get too low.
For those that have an 8' Stillwater Classic what oar length do you use? I'm helping a fishing buddy set theirs up and I suspect the oars it has were taken from some other use and feel too long.
Ordered a full ruffed grouse skin recently that arrived about a week ago but hadn't taken a close look at it until today and I pulled a few feathers out to tie with. I expect a few damaged feathers on a skin but I'm seeing there are a lot with broken barbs (see pic for a couple of examples)...
