Suwallia species

Life of the Party
This species of stonefly is found in the Russian River and Mill Creek. I haven't seen the adults emerge in the Russian River but have seen them emerge from Mill Creek. Several of the nymphs will crawl onto a large stone above water level and wriggle out of their shucks, spend a few minutes resting and fly off. The adults range from pale green to a deep shade of green. The nymphs are usually found in tail-outs of rapids on a gravel bottom. They measure about 10-13 mm in length not including cerci or antennae. Nymphs are found from early March through July.
