Well....I’m starting my second quad, this one will be longer and thinner. I torched the old bamboo strips with a small butane torch on the pith side. No moisture came out......but I didn’t burn them to a crisp! (Medium rare....) So that is supposed to heat treat them, we’ll see. I’m using two way different bamboo canes, and am going to scarf them together for a one piece rod. Another true Frankenquad!

The thicker shorter strips are from my grandfather and the other is something from years ago from my friend Tom.....so who knows??

I’ve been fishing and fixing this rod.....it‘s now is known as HRQ.....HotrodzQuad! So after breaking the tip section twice, I tried a graphite tip section but didn’t like it so I scarfed on a bamboo hex tip section and now it’s been one of my favorite fishing sticks. It handles a sinking line or dry line with indicator and chironomids.
But to answer your question about feeling a difference.....not sure.
