Klineline Kids Fishing event

The largest kids fishing event West of the Mississippi (and maybe East too!) April 12th and 13th 2024 - plenty of volunteer opportunities between now and then! Friday the 12th is for Special Needs kids, and Saturday the 13th is the mainstream event for kids from 5 through 14. As a derby with prizes, all participants will use the same Zebco rod & reel with bait provided. They can keep the equipment or donate it back. There will be volunteers on the beach assisting as needed, and since the fish are netted into a limited area, catching can be fast and furious!2011 KKF Derby Pic6.JPG

This event is rapidly approaching and could use volunteer support. In addition to assisting the kids on April 12th and 13th, we need volunteers to assemble rod racks (March 16th) assemble rods and reels (March 20 - 22) Assemble bicycles (for prizes - March 26th) set up the event at Salmon Creek County Park (April 11th) and tear down the event (April 13th after the fishing is done). Additional information can be found on the Klineline Kids Fishing non-profit website (https://klineline-kf.org/)

The event was fabulous, with 2300 kids Friday and Saturday. The excitement was palpable, with between 14,000 and 15,000 fish in the netted areas along the west end of Klineline Pond, and among those fish were 400 4-year fish from the Goldendale Hatchery! I saw one caught on Saturday that measured 25" and weighed in at over 9lbs!

If you were there helping, THANK YOU!! If not, I hope to see you there next year!
