I remember having air raid drills as a 1st grader (right around the time of the Cuban missile crisis). Who knew that sitting against a concrete wall with your knees tucked up was suitable protection against nuclear attack? Why did we ever bother with elaborate, expensive fall-out shelters when a much simpler protection was at hand? Sheesh!
