30+yrs ago while in BC. We met Mo at a lake we where staying/fishing at, We invited him into the cabin to talk fishing, while the storm passed.
Had no, clue who he was, he seen a vice set up and tied a couple of those for us and also tought me how to whip finish like that.
haven't used a whip finisher since. Great guy

What was the body material he was using? I couldn't catch the name that he called it.

phentex- a synthetic yarn made from olefin fiber. An olde time favorite.

Really anything you tie black bodies with will work just fine.
Got to admit that this video caused me to tie up a rendition.

That's the way I learned it way back when. I've tried those gizmos but I always go back to doing it by hand.
Same here. I’ve tried the tools and it was a cluster. Once I learned to do it by hand 30 years ago I can’t do it any other way.
