I was gonna put a line on it and cast it but I’ll wait til I get down to the lake and try it out. ( I forget but think it casted better with a 9 weight line).

So RP means Requires Power or Removed Power? 😉

I have a RP 696-2 from the mid 1980s, always cast better with a 7 WF line. Beautifully finished rod for sure. Excellent summer steelhead rod on the D back in the days when I could wade that river. Now it is just gathering dust. Sad.

Back in the day, you had to oversize the lines with Sage rods. Now the line manufacturers do it for us.
Just looking at that rod makes my shoulder sore, but in a good way.
