First fish of 2024

I spent the afternoon on a local lake before the Husky‘s game. Pretty calm and sunny……the fish were rising when the breeze wasn’t there. Lots of big midges and picky trout! I managed 2/6 sight casting midge emergers. Nice to be on the water! On bamboo with my Christmas reel! Liking this setup….

Excellent! Glad you got out to fish. One of the few downsides to living here is the still waters are frozen for about 3-4 months. Love that old school Battenkill LA reel, that’s pretty much all I use.

I think it would look good with a custom made wooden replacement handle.

You’re right Matt…..the handle is a clunky paddle! Maybe a bamboo handle….

Not on a lake but today got my first dry fly fish. Some small redbands on my Lami s-glass.

I’d have to drill a hole through thick ice to get my first lake fish this time of year.

Drill a big hole in the ice….step back 30’ or so and start casting! You can do it! Post pictures……
