I have no idea if SRC actually eat a lot of sand shrimp, but I have caught them in an area that is loaded with sand shrimp, and I once caught a resident coho there that had sand shrimp in its stomach.
I'm not sure how to answer "natural" or ""non-natural" in the poll but these 3 flies from Les Johnson's Fly Fishing Coastal Cutthroat Trout in these colors have worked well for me in the South Sound and Canal. The first two are a tossup as first out of the box unless I see sculpins in the shallows or catch one. @Chucker's pic makes me think the first two are actually natural, but they're not boring

My success with Blobs in the past couple of years has taught me that even old experienced fish in the 20''-24'' range are curious about 'non-natural' presentations. Have any of you guys tried Blobs with a gold tungsten bead?

Brian, I like that rolled Muddler! It is a favorite for river smallmouth.
