Baja Oregon Part II

I also had an opportunity to swing intruders on the mainstem Klamath with my grandson Chase. He's 19 and a full time college student (plus he has a job) so getting time on the water with him has gotten harder. He was my guide on this trip and we fished two of his favorite runs - both several hundred feet in length. Did I also mention he's a hell of a fly fisherman? He was launching all the way across the river with a 5 weight TFO switch rod. We had a good outing as we managed four adults between 20" and 24" and a handful of halfpounders. We also lost a few.

One fish had a rather large smolt lodge in its gullet. One of my former colleagues with CA DFW documented seven distinct life history strategies for rainbows in the watershed. We figured this fish was probably a good sized resident. I can't wait to hook back up with Chase again... hopefully soon.
