Thinking you'd need a 14wt to fish PNW rivers a few million years ago:

The fish nerd in me imagines comparing pre/post dam pikeminnow, akin to native vs planter rainbows. Sleek, hard fighting, vs fat slob, wet rag.
Easy to forget the main Columbia once had rapids and waterfalls. Not to mention a virtually limitless prey supply.
Back then, Pikeminnow filled the...
I got one over 4# many years ago. I recall reading that before the dams went in they got much bigger. Big, but maybe not as big as the closely related Colorado pikeminnow which, if you can believe Wikipedia, once exceeded 6' and 100#.
MIL #1 was from Oklahoma and a master at Mid-West comfort food. She did self-pickled cucumbers that were amazing. She'd stuff fresh pickling cukes in sterilized jars, with a few cloves of garlic and dill sprigs. IIRC, the rest was simple, add salt but cant remember if she added boiling or...
Dryer repair lunch break. Simple. Leftover Easter ham end pieces, seared and deglazed with pickled onion juice, on pan toasted sour dough, with pickled onions and stone ground mustard.
Already on the Saltwater Dirtbag forum but the cooking content is too good to not post here. Anyway I found these gear/spear and cook channels after a short stint on swing shift let me catch up on fishing vids.
Mostly based in Key West, but I believe fishing is fishing, and a lot of what these...
Got a chance to catch up on fishing vids after a short stint on swing shift. Found 2 channels that are loaded with great fishing and cooking content.
Mostly based in Key West, but I believe fishing is fishing, and a lot of what these guys are doing can be applied to PNW saltwater. Especially...

Half joking, I told my wife we should build a ski jump style ramp to the river. So when I decline to the point I need full time care, just launch me in my wheelchair into the crick..
Seriously though, I'm hoping the vertical nature of property itself will help keep me younger and more fit.
Thanks. Hopefully this doesn't come across as bragging because, in addition to the ordeal of getting to this point, we were extremely lucky to pull it off. Yes, we are fortunate to have good paying, stable jobs. Doing OK, considering our combined poor life choices, and curveballs, but we're...
TWO EFFING YEARS LATER...
Had the easement vacated early last year, wasn't nearly as difficult or expensive as I thought. Then another 6 months to find an acceptable spot for the well and get it drilled. Then more permit red tape... Family issues/distractions.... yadda-yadda. BUT We're...
Nice report. Doubt Panama will ever make it onto my list, but love learning about new places. Cool fish too. I'm starting to develop an interest in the various mackerel species - likely due to the speed factor. Wahoo of course, but Spanish and Sierra Mackerel seem like excellent fly targets.
Shoot. Probably best if I wait til URB season. Too many irons in fire right now. After almost 2 years being stuck in permits, we're finally about to start construction on our house.
