Once again, this simple streamer accounted for 7 of 9 hooked and 3 of 4 landed at a popular fly only lake today. Not sure what accounted for the questionable landing ratio (although I did have to outmaneuver the eagle a couple times)

That one is size 6, but they work in a range of sizes. Are you stripping this? What size hook is that?
For this year, yes you do have me beat, but the season is still way early. I got my eyes on a tiny sculpin spot that I know I’m going to crush in!Thank goodness for groundwater springs and some open water. I headed out this morning to the mini gloater fishin' hole, 1 for 4. I think I have @Irafly beat for the little big fish contest.View attachment 52665View attachment 52666

Staying with some friends at their parents’ cabin on HC, after a cup of coffee, I stepped down to make some casts at dawn. First cast with squiddy, a cutt. Uh oh, that can be harsh. But, I got another small cutt and a rezzie in less than an hour’s time. Not too shabby.
Will do when I get home. This fly is intriguing. I'm wondering about an olive version for bass
Is there a material list out there?
Maybe. That angle, in the water, doesn’t make fish look fat. It’s a little deceiving.Nice looking fish, but they look a bit thin.
I’m wondering if some of those you caught are back in the salt post-spawn.
Nice ties! What’s the green dubbing in the first photo? Thanks.
It's Fly Tyers Dungeon Sea dragon dubbing. It has a lot of micro rubber strands in it.Nice ties! What’s the green dubbing in the first photo? Thanks.
I love bobber fishing but I too can get this antsy feeling: I believe it is called impatience, but man, when the bobber is working, it is a blast. Yesterday I scouted water and started fishing a vampire jig under a bobber. Third cast, fish on. A hundred more casts and nary a twitch. Pulled off the bobber and started casting/stripping. I hear you about the streamer bite! The specimen is not noteworthy but it was my first lake caught fish on a chironomid so that was!
I doubt that I’ll fish this way a ton unless other methods are not producing. Not because I have an issue indicator fishing. I also know it takes a lot of skill and knowledge to be very successful fishing this way. I just love the tug of a streamer bight and the visual aspect of a dry fly eat. I also get super antsy watching an indicator for more than 10 seconds before feeling the need to recast. I might not have the patience to do it often either!
