Golden-crowned Sparrow

There has been a dark phase red tailed hawk hanging out nearby this winter.
Its a pretty spooky bird and I rarely get close to it.

Trumpeter Swans have been here at the wildlife refuge fall through winter so far.

This fellow quieted down the creek for a few. But surprisingly not all of the ducks left.


The internet tells me this might be a Swan Goose x Greylag Goose hybrid. Considering the Swan Goose's native range (asia), I'd assume the hybridization happened domestically. Interestingly the goose was fairly skittish/cautious--more so than many of the surrounding honkers.

Finally working out my new-to-me camera and autofocus lens system. Been some mixed results, but some success at times more often it seems now.

Golden eagle was from about 200 yards, pheasant from about 40 or less. They look fuzzy on here..hmm.
