Mike Kennedy of Lake Oswego, Oregon, originated this pattern in 1961 for the Rogue River.

Today you will see it tied with a black Crystal Chenille body.

Hooks - MUS80500BL, MUS80501 BL, TMC7999, DA12441 or equivalent

Thread - Black

Tail - Amherst pheasant tippet barbs

Body - Black chenille

Hackle - Badger tied on as a collar and tied back and down

Wing - Gray squirrel tail tied over the body

Had no idea they made Ice Dub in claret until I walked into the local fly shop yesterday.

hook - WFC Model 6 #10
thread - Uni 8/0 wine
tail - yarn fluoro orange
rib - small wire gold
body - Ice Dub claret
body hackle - black
1st shoulder - claret
2nd shoulder - bleached pheasant rump dyed Silver Doctor Blue (2 packs Koolaid Ice Blue Raspberry/1 cup water)

Crappy cell phone picture - "Eddie Munster" (mini-vampire leech) pattern that Phil Rowley ties - he uses "headturner" beads on a jig hook that effectively (apparently) turns a jig into a balanced pattern if you tie a clinch knot sort of like in the picture. I'm trying to find a source stateside for "head turner" tungsten beads in chartreuse and hot orange. You have to love supply chain shortages.

Body - Dubbed with fluorescent orange lamb's wool

Hackle - Crimson red tied on as a collar and tied back and down

Wing - Pink bucktail tied over the body

Based on a fly by John Moore; extended the length of the first shoulder. Don’t normally use guinea much any more, which may be a function of the stuff I have.

hook - WFC Model 6 #10
thread - Uni 8/0 red
tag - Depth Ray fluoro red/resin
tail - golden pheasant crest
rib - small wire gold
body - Ice Dub hot orange
body hackle - dyed golden olive (2 Tsp Rit Golden Yellow, 1/4 Tsp Rit Camel/2 cups water)
1st shoulder - pheasant rump dyed orange (1 Tbs Rit Sunshine Orange/1 cup water)
2nd shoulder - guinea dyed Silver Doctor Blue (2 packs Koolaid Ice Blue Raspberry/1 cup water)

Trying some idea inspired by the European seatrout folks. I really dig the shrimpy looking patterns they tie over there.
Need to work on the body taper some.
