Dry spell has come to an end. Brats were wondering why the pellets haven't been hitting the surface lately. Rain drops have them fooled!"My" lake in Mill Creek has a bunch of trout rising tonight, first time this year! Season opens Saturday.
Nice! Water temp was 66 and some big bass were seen when @Fishues and I went after them on Tuesday. But for some reason the bite was totally off, both for poppers and subsurface. But yeah clearly they’re not asleep anymore! That second fish is a healthy specimen.View attachment 114786View attachment 114787
I think they’re awake. The water felt warmer than the air. I managed to get 5 eats on the popper in a couple hours of fishing. The first two didn’t stick (I blame my timing), the third I hooked up and played the fish like a wimp and let it get into the weeds and toss the fly. I didn’t mess up the last two. Sometimes it takes me a while to (re)learn a lesson.
The lake I was at last week, I could see they were on beds or cruising the general bedding areas, and VERY spooky in the clear shallow water and bright sun. I think the little weather front we had move in may have worked in my favor.Nice! Water temp was 66 and some big bass were seen when @Fishues and I went after them on Tuesday.
