First bought them from Gary at the Morning Hatch when I started fly fishing.
Grizzly Marabou tail - Olive / black or brown / black
Variegated Chenille body - Olive / black or brown / black
Olive or Brown Grizzly Hackle
Bead optional.

Yeah trout, Olive willy is a good one. I have quiet a few of those. My buddy was doing good one trip with something he was calling a calico bugger. Sounds similar to what @Stonedfish is talking about. After that trip he was searching high and low for some of that long out of production chenille. I like those @Billy. Crayfish weren't really on my radar for trout. Another favorite of mine is the Stillwater nymph.

Flat out most dependable lake fly? Olive Willy by far. Seldom start fishing without one on each of my three flyrods...floater, intermediate, and type 3 sinker.
On so many outings I simply have no reason to switch to anything else, unless I just want to experiment with what other patterns they'll also hit.
