This color combination has worked fairly well for cutthroats, not that the ones I fish for have been particularly picky.

hook - WFC Model 6 #8
thread - SemperFli 8/0 black
tag - small tinsel gold
rib - small wire gold
body - Ice Dub pheasant tail
hackle - brown
1st shoulder - dyed golden olive (2 Tsp Rit Golden Yellow, 1/4 Tsp Rit Camel/2 cups water)
2nd shoulder - golden pheasant body feather red
collar/head - deer hair

Regards,
Scott

That’s the tastiest-looking trout fly I’ve seen in quite awhile. Colour combo, contrast, profile …. I think it’s got it all, Bongoman! I haven’t tied in awhile, but this one is motivating me back to the vise. Thanks!
Thanks Otter, now head to that vise she's calling your name 😉

Fishing season begins January 6 in Wisconsin, so I'll be found alongside Noyb Creek in Wisconsin that morning. Pink squirrels are the story, so I tied up a bunch of #16's, as the trout seem to like them smaller in the low, clear water I'm expecting to deal with.

I'm even pulling out my 15-foot leader...

Not too crazy about rabbit because I don't enjoy casting it, but worth a try. A sort of snaky thing meant to fish as a waking fly for largemouth. 6 inches.snake.JPGsnake2.JPG

Started as a Rainbow Warrior variation (the dubbed thorax is barely visible on close inspection) but the deer hair wanted to join in.

hook - WFC Model 6 #10
thread - SemperFli 8/0 tan
tail - pheasant tail
rib - small wire silver
abdomen - medium tinsel opal
thorax - Sow/Scud dubbing rainbow
hackle - hen light dun (thorax only)
collar/head - deer hair

Scott

Resembles some sort of spawn/egg…
Is that what the fish are keyed in on?
