Legend
Tom, I haven’t tied a woven stonefly in eighteen years. So, kind of a first pass. I was inspired by Cowlitz Bottomfeeders recent post.
Should be a bit longer and perhaps slightly shorter tail. Based on Jim Garrett’s Olympic Stonefly. I used to fish them with success in the Sol Duc R. I’ll try a few more. Tx.View attachment 96805
My woven flies look terrible. Here's a very simple Simulator stonefly I used to match some big stones back east that were black with bits of yellow. Underbody color can be changed, of course.

Streamer hook with 11 wraps of heavy nonlead wire, yellow floss or yarn underbody, wire rib, peacock tail and body wrapped opposite (toward me) so the wire rib will counterwrap it later and letting the underbody yarn peek through, black bugger feather tied in at head and wrapped back, wire wrapped forward binding down hackle and herl, trim hackle. It is very durable and fishes better after it gets chewed up some.
