On a side note a Big Thank You to Mike Kennedy and all the folks who are helping to bring back the chum runs to the Snohomish system. Due to one state agency really bad management practices. Thanks to all who are involved !!!

FYI for those interested. The article does reference Mr. Kennedy. Click on the picture to read the article.

Man, those Carkeek chum are a blast on the fly rod! Quite the tussle.

Just kidding! This is from a chum run that’s open to fish.
Hooked into my first batches this Thanksgiving. I could have had a 100 fish day if I wanted to. It blew my mind how aggressive they were. Some looser yuppie was keeping snagged fish (He made fun of me for releasing a fish, which I find hilarious because his karma is going to be eating dark Chum), and I cannot understand why because these fish would strike at anything you put in front of them. The spot I chose did not have room for fly casting which broke my heart as I am sure they would have taken a hare leech with glee. I saw someone emerge from the woods and start wading, it might be time for a bushwacking trip because the water behind the gear combat hole was packed with fish and perfect for swinging

I have long wanted to photograph spawning salmon, and got a chance this year. Most of the photos here are from Pipers Creek, but a few are from Kennedy Creek near Olympia. I wish I had a polarizer or underwater housing to photograph the Kennedy fish, it was definitely a sight to see hundreds all stacked in that tiny body of water. The Wallace was just as enchanting

If you are looking for something to do with the kids today, they are releasing the second batch of chum fry this evening and the park has some Earth Day activities.

Time to break out that 8 wt. 😂 They are here.
You might need to tussle with a beaver though while angling for the wily chum.
You can euro nymph them while sitting on the park bench in the middle of the beaver dam. 😉
