A few minor substitutions to the original from Blue Ribbon Flies; another one to swing in front of fall run-ups on the Madison River from Hebgen.

hook - Maruto 206bl #8
thread - GloBrite #6 hot orange
abdomen - tying thread
thorax - Ice Dub u/v tan
shoulder - partridge

Fooling around. I hope this will swim point up.
UVflex at base of tail and wing.
Tail position and beads will help achieve goal.

It will be interesting to see how that fishes.
Are you losing the whole eye or are they breaking in half on your clousers? There are cures for both. ;)

I found that when I used lead eyes that tagging the beach on a back cast would fracture the eyes, breaking one eye off so then the remaining eye and “stem” would back out the other side. When my casting suddenly improved (due to the now unweighted clouser) I knew it was time to change flies 🙂

I now use brass plated eyes as they are so much stronger and don’t break.
