Really clean and crisp, your close up pic is very helpful as it clearly shows size, scope, scale etc. Immediately I realized on my last batch I overwrapped the white belly material with the flat braid thereby not starting the body taper right behind the head/gills. The bucktail looks great, a rookie question: how do you all prevent the bucktail from severe flaring at tie in point? In your example the taper is so smooth.
Thanks again for the pic

A couple of things. First, good high quality bucktail helps. For more flare, take from the base of the tail as these have more air in them. For less flare, take from closer to the tip of the tail. Also, when tying in, for less flare, for your first few wraps, wrap looser and gradually tighten them up. For more flare, crank it tight from the first wrap.

That one is bigger than I normally tie. There's no right or wrong way to do it. To keep the hair from flaring use less tension the further back on the fly you go. I'm not an expert though, whatever works for you.

I saw @mcswny post some hippie stompers the other day and I thought, “hey, those look cool.” So, because I have very few original thoughts, I tied up a few myself. Thanks for the inspiration.

I tied some of these up a while ago in Green Drake colors. Have yet to fish them. Hard to switch from my mini mocha Chubby right now.
